Vigilant Hose Finally Gets New Seagrave
On March 2, 1981 the Vigilant Hose Company accepted delivery of their 1981 Seagrave engine after a 26-month wait. The engine was equipped with a 1,500 gallon per minute pump and carried 750 gallons of water. The engine cost the company $103,725.8 comments:

I know that I have to post on the day that you put up a post on which I share the namesake for this blog. This was big stuff for us when this engine showed up. We waited for it forever, thinking it was never going to show up.Finally we were moving from the sixties into the eighties. It was fun running the 81 and 69 Seagrave out the door back to back. There was no keeping up in the 69 on the opening road but if you were running the back roads with one of the real gear bangers driving it made for an exciting run.
ReplyDeleteI always hated pulling out of the building in this engine , more then one guy trimmed the door frame on the way out. By the way who are those young guys in the picture?

You will find this rig at the Franklin Twp Fire Co. in Bradford County, PA. I had the chance to see it this past summer.
