Incendiary Fire Destroys Stable

On September 27, 1868 at 12:30 a.m. the cry of fire was heard over town, firemen soon learned the cause for alarm was at Jacob Stevick’s stable. An incendiary fire destroyed a frame stable. Stables on both sides were scorched, thanks to a calm night further destruction was avoided. The Vigilant Fire and Cumberland Valley Fire companies answered the alarm.
