Newburg FD Tankers Ends Up In Ditch
On September 15, 1958 while en route to a grass fire at the Guy Hammond farm the Newburg Hopewell tanker being driven by Mel Swope left the road and went into a four foot ditch along the Mill road between Newburg and Newville. No one was injured and the tanker was not damaged. The firemen were able to remove the tanker from the ditch with their LaFrance engine and a wrecker.
