Fire Destroys Lurgan Twp. House

On March 9, 1996 at 9:57 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to a house fire at 6537 Roxbury Road, Lurgan Township. A faulty chimney was to blame for a fire that destroyed a 1-½ story frame house full of antiques. Firefighters from six companies worked for 2 ½ hours to control the blaze. Damages were estimated at $125,000. The Pleasant Hall, Vigilant Hose, Cumberland Valley Hose, West End Fire and Rescue, Newburg-Hopewell and Franklin fire companies operated at the scene.
