Vigilant Hose Receives 1999 E-One Cyclone
On February 6, 1999 the Vigilant Hose Company took possession of their 1999 Emergency One Cyclone II fire engine. The engine carries 500 gallons of water, has a 1500-gallon per minute pump and a class A foam system. The unit cost $293,000. The engine arrived painted red and cream the old company colors. The rig carries the radio designation Engine 152.

Ahhhh, the year of the E-Ones in Ship!!! Brad, just wanted to say continued great job on the site. It is so great to see the history of not only Shippensburg, but of the Cumberland/Franklin area.
I remember that was a pretty cool trip, with our new pumper and the truck & squad also being there. Who would have thought that a quick compact little ol fire engine could take 1st overall! Alot of hard work went into that trip and it was a very proud day. Keep up the good work Brad.

Brad, who would have thunk in this day and age of fire engines and fire trucks that something short and sweet could still get the JOB done. I hated the day the 69 left the firehouse. It was the end of an era, but the "Little Red Wagon" stepped up to the plate and hit a homerun (even though its a E-One).
Bradley, You didn't mention this engine is dedicated to Past Chief Charles Mouer and Chief Emeritus Charles Myers, who together led the Viggies for nearly 30 years.
No I didn't mention the dedication. When I do the daily post like these I keep it short. As I get to days that no major incident occured I plan to do detailed histories on the rigs of Shippensburg with multiple photographs. Since I seem to have a few peoples attention on this rig I have a question. The rig was built in 1998, accepting delivery in Feb 1999. The article in the News Chronicle when it came in says it is a 1998 E-One all later ones mention it as a 1999. I would think it is a 1998 but am not sure. Could any of you say for sure?
The year goes by the month that the unit is actually titled in the state of residence
