A fire of undetermined origin caused extensive damage to the basement of an occupied 2-½ story brick dwelling. Smoke and heat damaged the upper floors. A damage estimate was not available. The West End Fire and Rescue, Vigilant Hose and Cumberland Valley Hose companies answered the alarm under the direction of Chief Crawford Wiestling.

Who's the big guy on the right? ha Ha Wondering if the old gray coats meet NFPA standard? It would be nice if Shippensburg could get together and put together a fire museum for all the old history stuff of the Shippensburg Area fire service that's in attics, basements, and garages.

The big guy is Crawford serving out his last few months as Chief before moving on to bigger things.

There is enough stuff between the three stations to do a nice little museum. I can't see it happening. It would give me something to do upon my retirement. I like to talk history.
