Junior Hose & Truck Co. No. 2 Chambersburg

This is one of those days that I am out of post for (I think). So I picked two photographs from my collection of the Junior Hose and Truck Company No. 2 in Chambersburg. Click on the photographs for much larger views. I asked the question last week if everyone liked these as space fillers or if I should skip the day and only two people answered so I guess I will post what trips my trigger that particular day.

This is your site, you put what you want to put on it. I do not mind this type of filler. I really like the history lesson. I just want to say great site Brad, hang in there.

I could look at old fire department pictures all day. Do you have anything on the Vigilant Hook and Ladder that was housed across the street from Juniors? I just heard of them recently.

I do Haney but the information I found on the company places them in the same quarters as the Junior's. No photos but maybe I will pull the file for the next day without a post.

Hey Guys and Brad,
Might check with Guy Flory he is possibly the only one around who might give you a date. It was always JH&T Co. since the 1930's Thats how far back I can go. I drove the 1938 Pirch Senior Aerial out of the 2nd Street Station with Jackson G. back in the early 60's

CW when the Jr's formed they were called the Junior Fire Company. A few years later the Vigilant Hook and Ladder were formed and were houses in the same station. Fast forward 22 years and the two companies merged forming the Junior Hook and Ladder as they have always been known to us.

I have detailed histories on these companies and at some point will post them, maybe I will have more time in a month or two after retirement while I am job searching.

By the way does anyone knoe the name of Chambersburg's first hook and ladder company? I will give you a hint they formed in 1858 aand disbanded during the Civil War.
