Arson Fire Destroys Two Stables

On September 13, 1872 in the evening hours the cry of fire was heard over Shippensburg. Firemen soon learned the location of the alarm was on Prince Street. An arson fire destroyed two stables and everything inside. Thanks to a calm breeze firemen were able to keep the blaze from spreading. The Vigilant and Cumberland Valley Fire companies answered the alarm.

Today's photograph is of the Vigilant Hose Company fleet circa 1969.
