Bank Barn And Numerous Out Buildings Destroyed
On September 25, 1949 at 2:00 p.m. local firemen were sent to Leesburg-Cleversburg Road for a barn fire. A large bank barn, wagon shed, chicken house and hog pen were destroyed in a fire of unknown origin. Lost in the fire were a side delivery rake, hay loader, corn husker, hay, straw and other machinery. The blaze had gained such headway that by the time the Viggies arrived all they could do was protect the dwelling. A damage estimate was not available. The Vigilant Hose Company answered the alarm.
